November 4

Religion:   We will be talking about the importance of respecting all people. We will read the book, Horton Hears a Who! and discuss how we can be the protectors of all people. The students can continue to work on their Saint slide from home. We would love to have these completed by the end of the week so the students can share their slides the following week.
Writing: The kids will be starting a new unit next week on personal narratives. They will be writing about experiences they have had with loved ones, writing about home, and completing a quick write using sensory details. They grammar lesson will be over subject and object pronouns.
Math:  Unit Three continues next week.  We will focus on perimeter, collecting and displaying data, and area. There will be no math on Thursday because of our Iowa Wild field trip.
Spelling:  Week Eight focuses on the long o (Co, oa, ow) and consonant digraphs (gh, ph as /f/). The spelling section contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words.  You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS:    We wrapped up the matter unit this week with the oobleck experiment. Next week we will start a unit about government. They will hear the story, City Green, and talk about the role of government in our community. They will focus on city and state government.

Comprehension: We will be doing more with groups and continue to do individual conferences. The comprehension strategy is visualizing what you read.
