December 16

Religion:   Next week we will have our last Advent Prayer Service. After Mass on Wednesday the whole school will go to the gym to sing Christmas Carols. After Christmas break we will talk about the 12 Days of Christmas leading up the the Epiphany.
Writing: We will be starting a new unit after Christmas break on Fiction. The students will get the chance to use their imagination to create a story where anything is possible.
Math:  Unit Five will begin next week. This will focus on larger numbers and place value. They will be reading, writing, and ordering numbers to the millions.
Spelling: Week Twelve - sounds of oi & oy / plural endings to nouns. The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words.  You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it. Our test for Week 12 will be on January 6.
Science/SS: We will be finishing up our unit on the "American Spirit" for social studies. Next we will be starting a new unit in science called Force, Motion and Simple Machines. Look for information to be coming home on Tuesday regarding important dates for materials, assignments and the completed project for the Invention Convention!

Comprehension: We are working on making inferences in reading. The third graders are asked to be detectives while they read so they can find clues. Students will. We will continue to meet with students in groups as well as individual conferences.
