Religion: Our Lenten season continues next week. We will be having prayer services throughout the season. The next one will be on Monday, March 27 at 8:45. Third grade is in charge of this service if you are interested in attending. The third graders will continue to focus on the Stations of the Cross during the next few weeks.
Writing: We have officially started our unit on Opinion Writing. We will be studying persuasive essays and discuss how they are set up. Our grammar lesson will be on Formal and Informal English.
Math: Unit Seven wraps up next week with a test on Tuesday, March 28. When this unit is complete the students will be expected to start memorizing their basic multiplication and division facts. The expectation is that they have these down by the end of the year. Unit Eight will focus on fractions. We will start with naming parts of a fraction on Wednesday. The students will also be using tangrams to develop fractional and spatial relationships.
Spelling: Week 23 - R Controlled Vowels (eer,ear)/ Prefixes (dis, im, mis, un). The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words. You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS: PLANT Unit - Students will be planting their own seed and observing it during this unit! Students will be identifying the parts of a seed and what plants need to survive.
Comprehension: We are continuing to work on Reader's Theater. Our goal is to make our reading sound like our talking. Next we are going to start a whole class book, Stone Fox.
