May 11

Religion:   Next week we will focus on family trees. We will read about the Jesse Tree in the religion book. Your child will bring home a blank family tree on Tuesday for them complete at home by Thursday. It is a pretty simple one, but we need your help to spell the names correctly. They will be going to the computer lab on Friday to make an electronic family tree.
Writing: Next week we will begin our final unit in writing. We will be exploring functional writing. This includes writing directions to explain to others how to do something.
Math:   Unit Nine wraps up on Wednesday with the test. This will be the last unit test of the year. We will be teaching a few lessons from both units ten and eleven after that. The students will be taking a third trimester assessment over all of the concepts from this trimester on May 25.
Spelling: Week 29 - Sounds of the Syllable Cle (table) / silent consonants gn, kn. The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words.  You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS: Rain Forest Unit - Students are continuing to work on their Rain Forest research folders and will present their information to the class.
Comprehension: We will be continuing to learn how to use context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words. We will be working on this over the last few weeks.
