Religion: Because of the snow day, we will be moving our discussion and activity about the Baptism of Jesus to next week. We will continue with our classroom meetings as well.
Writing: We are starting to use a program called Mentor Sentences to help the students learn about sentence structure and building their own sentences correctly. Look in their take home folders to see what this program is all about. We are continuing to study different pieces of fiction writing. We are drafting our own fiction stories as well.
Math: We will finish up our work with larger numbers in Unit 5. We will have one more lesson on Tuesday, a review on Wednesday and then the test will be on Thursday. Thank you so much for bringing in materials to help with our STEAM activities!
Spelling: Week 14 Sounds of OU (round & could) / Singular and Plural Possessives
The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words. You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS: We are starting our forces, motion, and simple machines unit. The kids will participating in many hands on activities throughout the unit! This week we will be looking more in depth at these simple machines: This week we will be learning more about the wedge, pulley and wheel and axle. Blank Poster Board and edited Planning Sheet due on Thursday, January 25. Invention Convention is Friday, February 2 from 12:15-1:00.
Comprehension: We are continuing to work on the comprehension strategy of wondering and questioning. We will practice describing our thoughts before, during and after we read.
