Religion: The students have completed their Stations of the Cross booklet! Next week we will be talking about the special days during Holy Week. On Friday afternoon the 6th graders will be leading us in the Stations of the Cross in the church at 2:30. Mission Day will be on Thursday next week because of Stations. That means the Stewardship Sheet will also be due on Thursday.
Writing: This week we focused on comparative and superlative adjectives with our Mentor Sentence. We also continued to work on our opinion pieces. We are focusing on the conclusion of our work.
Math: Unit 8 started up this week. Our focus is on fractions. The concepts that will be reviewed and introduced are using the number line to understand fractions, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, and fractions greater than one. The test for Unit 8 will be on Thursday, April 5th.
Spelling: Week 21 R-Controlled Vowels / Prefixes (mid, tele, re, pre)
The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words. You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS: The test over our Space Unit will be on Monday. The kids reviewed on Friday and should be bringing home their study guide. Our next unit will focus on plants.
Comprehension: We have read the first four chapters of Stone Fox. We have worked on making connections and visualizing the words we read. Next week we will continue to work on this class book and more comprehension strategies.
