Religion: Next week we will be talking about another mystery of our faith, the Paschal Mystery. We will talk about the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us, and then talk about the idea of sacrifices third graders could make.
Writing: This week we focused on similes with our Mentor Sentence. We also continued to research our authors. We then wrote a three paragraph biography about the person we studied. We will present these to the class next week.
Math: Unit 9 continues next week. The focus remains on multiplication and division. Although there are no graded timed tests for multiplication and division, the students are encouraged to get the basic facts memorized. They will be learning different strategies for multi-digit multiplication problems.
Spelling: Week 25 R-Controlled Vowels (or, ore) / Suffixes (ment, ness, tion)
The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words. You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS: Students will continue to learn about the tropical rainforests around the world. Students will identify where rainforests are located and the layers of the rainforests.
Comprehension: Next week we will conclude our Nonfiction Text Features study with a fun and interactive activity. Our next unit will be Reader's Theater. This will give us the opportunity to practice our fluency and expression.
