March 30

Religion:  The Stations of the Cross were led by the 6th graders today. Next week we will focus on Easter and do an activity with Bible passages. On Friday the students will be participating in a prayer service in each of our rooms. They will need to bring a rock to school for that by Friday.

Writing: This week we focused on possessive nouns with our Mentor Sentence. We presented our opinion pieces to the class. Next week we will study the structure of a sentence. The students will be able to identify a topic sentence and supporting sentences.
Math:  Unit 8 will be wrapping up next week. We will have one more lesson on Tuesday, no math on Wednesday due to practice for the music program, a review on Thursday and the test for Unit 8 will be on Friday, April 6th.
Spelling: Week 22 R-Controlled Vowels (eer, ear) / Prefixes (mis, dis, im, un)
The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words.  You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS: Students will be learning about seeds this week. Students will need a piece of fruit for homework completion on Tuesday/Wednesday. On Thursday we will be observing all the different seeds and using them to complete a writing activity.
Comprehension: We have read the eight chapters in Stone Fox. Next week will finish the book, and we will discuss its bittersweet ending.
