November 2

Religion:  The students will be learning about how all life is important to us. We will focus on the books, If I Only Had a Green Nose and Horton Hears a Who to have a discussion about this topic.
Writing: Grammar Lesson - Possessive Nouns
Next week the third graders will continue working on our Personal Narratives unit. We will be listening to many examples of personal narratives, and we will then write about some of our own special memories. We will spend some time writing about situations where we've faced challenges, and we will explain how we persevered.
Math:   Our third unit continues next week with measurement. The students will focus on creating line plots, exploring perimeter and area, and then applying that knowledge with measurements.. There is a lot of vocabulary in this unit for your child to recall.
Spelling: Week 8 Long O (Co, oa, ow) & Consonant Digraphs ph & gh
The spelling section of the website contains all of the weekly lists and the choice words in case your child misplaces their words.  You can also find a copy of LSCW if you need it.
Science/SS: Students will begin a short government unit. The students will learn about the levels and branches of government.
Comprehension: We will continue to work on visualizing next week. We will read the book Aunt Flossie's Hats and discuss the pictures that we created in our minds. Then we will notice and write down words that helped us visualize in our own reading books.
